Does anyone have experience installing FC1 on a system with an adaptec ultra320 scsi card? I'm about to attempt such an installation. The latest driver available from adaptec is for RH9. Do you know if this driver is okay? Also, the driver comes as a *.img.gz file: a compressed image file of the driver disk. I can decompress this on my current Windows system, but how do I process the decompressed img file, to prepare the driver disk? Can it remain as a *.img file on the driver disk??
On linux, the img file goes directly to the floppy disk using (this writes the image to the floppy disk):
dd if=drivername.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=1024 conv=sync ; sync
Also, if you want to look inside the img, do this as root in your /root dir.
tar -czvf drivername.img.gz
mount -o loop drivername.img myimage
cp myimage/initrd.img ../
gunzip -S .img initrd.img
mount -o loop initrd initrd-image/
Then you can see the driver in initrd-image/.
Remember to come out of the directory later and un mount them both -
