Two nVidia Graphic Cards in FC6
Does FC6 work with two nVidia graphic cards? Currently I have two different cards: one ATI 9200 and one nVidia 6100 which worked fine. The ATI died and I want to replace it with another nVidia 6200. Before I do this, does the driver module handle multiple cards well or does it getting confused?
I am planning just to change the driver section in xorg.conf from radeon to "nv".
Does anyone have a system with two nVidia cards that works in FC6?

Does it work even if the GPU's are different? I will have GeForce 6100 (onboard) and GeForce 6200. I don't think they support SLI (at least not the 6100). So they have to be configured as seperate graphic cards in xorg.conf?

FC6 not recognising 2 Nvidia Graphics Cards
I too am having a lot of trouble getting FC6 to recognise 2 Cards. (could have a bit to do with the fact I am a noob).
I have the Nvidia graphics driver loaded, through yum, but the "Nvidia X Server Settings" application only provides the capacity for "X Screen 0" on the display menu (screenshot attachment). Its as if the Nvidia X Server tool hasnt taken into account that I would like to run two nvidia graphics cards (NOT IN SLI) independantly for two screen display rather than "dual head". I dont wish to use 'dual head' rather would prefer to use both my graphics cards instead.
Ive run out of noob idears to get the X-server to initialise my second graphics card and second monitor (screenshot2 attachment).
I know I probably have to confiure the Nvidia X Server from a terminal with Gedit (which I have figured out ) to provide the option for 2 X screens (screenshot2 attachment) but am having trouble with getting the Nvidia X-config tool installed - links to a noob howto would be appreciated.
Is this the problem your having funknor.

no takers on this one. Am I to assume that Fedora Core 6 is unable to utilise 2 Nvidia graphics cards at the same time?

it deffently is, as it uses xorg.. xorg is defently capable of using two cards degardless of what disrto it is,
im poor, and have only one video card so i cant be of much help sadly
google might be your friend on this.. of the nvidia forums
For SLI tho, you do need the same GPU. otherwise you can still use a duel display twin monitor thingy.

ta. appreciate the reply. I am having a hell of a time configuring my xorg.conf. Its just not happening for me.
Just deleted my X11 directory by mistake : ) looks like a fresh install for me LOL....
Google isnt being much help - couple of references to dual cards in Windows; need to refine my searching a bit more. Nvidia isnt much help either as they only want to referre you to wiki. hmmm...
Still after some takers on this.

Unless they're different cards, why wouldn't you want run two cards in SLI?

Good question. I run SLI on FC6 with Beryl. No problems.
As far as configuring Nvidia driver's here's what you want:
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L...DME/index.html
I know it's a long read but it should be in there somewhere.

I dont game. Sounds crazy but I dont have the time. Bought 2 7600GS's and because I got a bee in my bonet about using the 'features' of the A8N SLI thingo.... but would actaully rather have the dual screen (which I know I could have used with the dual DVI) so technically I could run 4 monitors if I felt the need - I run dual in Windowz cause I need the screen realestate for work.
This is killing me. Sorry to be a noob but I have been stuffing around with xorg.conf for a week. Has anyone got a working dual CARD xorg.conf I can have a go at copying?

funknor - I dont suppose I can have a geezer at your xorg.conf with the cards you have running? Would really appreciate it. I have been trying to copy other xorg.conf setups found across the web but still no joy for me with this Dual Card setup.
nVidia X Server Settings refuse to provide me with the option to run 2 X Screens (see picky posted previously)

i currently run 3 nvidia cards with Fedora and the official nvidia drivers
one of the cards has a different GPU than the other two
works fine, you just have to add a device, screen, monitor section for each card and of course set the positions of each screen in relation to eachother

The cards are identical GeForce 7600GS's (except for 'bios' version) and they run SLI in Windowzz - and plain dual card too. Its a great settup but I cant seem to configure it to work in Core6. Starting to get to me.
