gnome-power-manager and power button always shutdown

I have switched to gnome because of lotus, and see one problem with power button.
I can't configure it to be really in "Ask" mode. I have set in gnome-power-manager:

When power button is pressed : "Ask me"

but this does not help. laptop just shuts down.

This mode works well when I switch to XFCE (anyway using gnome-power-manager).
Running fc6 on an IBM/Lenovo t60p.

It may be that acpid is overriding your gnome-power-manager settings. Look in /etc/acpi/events for any configuration files that do something on the power button being pressed (ie an event of button/power) if there are any in there, comment them out and restart acpid - see if this does anything.

Yes, i did already look inside.
owever, it should not call shutdwn since gnome-power-manager is running.

cat /etc/acpi/events/power.conf
# ACPID config to power down machine if powerbutton is pressed, but only if
# no gnome-power-manager is running

event=button/power.*
action=/bin/ps awwux | /bin/grep gnome-power-manager | /bin/grep -qv grep || /sbin/shutdown -h now

$ /bin/ps awwux | /bin/grep gnome-power-manager | /bin/grep -qv grep && echo found
found

Finally I was able to understand what is going on :-(

gnome-power-manager simply dies when I press power button.
acpi-event script calls shutdown because there is no gnome-power-mananer anymore.

ps. This does not happen if I start gnome-power-manager manually from terminal.
Problem appears with gpm launched on session startup.
