Cannot locate FC6 boot image!

I have two machines and have upgraded FC5 to FC6 on both. One machine everything went as expected except with some issues with network related matters having to do with no boot.message. That seems to have been taken care of by simply commenting that line out. and now my network card is recognized.

Now my main problem is with the second machine, upgrade to FC6 went perfect no problems arose. after succesful upgrade re-booted the machine, the machine boots back into FC5 as if no boot image upgrade took place. I looked at the lilo.conf, boot.conf as well as menu.lst and noticed that the new kernel installed but with a FC5 image file.

So now it boots with a upgraded kernel but still as FC5. I then did the upgrade again and have the same result. How do I access the newly installed FC6 image? How do I find out if it is installed?

Any help appreciated.....

Hello:
The .img file should be in /boot
initrd-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.img
vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6
You might also want to have a peek in /lib/modules
to ensure that the correct files are there.

I suppose you could do a

mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.img 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6

which should correct things

The command:
mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.img 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6

results in: no modules available for kernel 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6

Any other ideas?

the /lib/modules directory contains:
2.6.15-1.2054_FC5
2.6.18-1.2239.fc5

Anyhelp appreciated. I have upgraded the machine from FC5 to FC6 twice both times with no problems at all.
After reboot no FC6 image to boot at. boots back into fc5. What is going on?
