how do I update alsa driver and replace the existing one

here is what I got
[root@localhost golpemortal]# cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.12rc1 (Thu Jun 22 13:55:50 2006 UTC).

I want to update to 1.0.14rc1.

how do I do it ladies and gentlements?

Hello:
I believe the newer 1.0.14 are in the development repos
I suppose if you wanted to you could
yum --enablerepo=development update alsa*

Then you could post back the results for the rest of us

ok,,, I did a typo...

should be
yum --enablerepo=development update alsa*

it works now!!!!!!

seve still, working on it... I'm tranfering some files to an other computer running fc6 and I need to wait then will reboot and see if it solve my problem that I was having before....

Well I really don't min, plus i know if they build correctly from source it's probably better off anyways. I suggest you try the same if you can't get the dev rpms via yum to work

well, sound still works on my laptop and seems to performed better, better quality of sound....
but I was hoping to fix a problem on my desktop, still the same, the problem is that when I play mp3 or any media files I'll get a looping sound.... the alsa upgrade helped a bit but not enought to fix the problem....

Seve, you any idea how to fix this problem....?

What exactly to you mean by a looping sound. Does the sound actually repeat itself or.... something else?

what I mean is if the song goes hello world it would repeat like this wor,wor,wor,wor, and loop again and again till my system crash or become slow to the point where I can not do nothing and the only thing for me to do is reboot.
