Sound Blaster Live 24 bit on Gigabyte G1975X

I installed FC6 x86_64 on my PC. Everything works OK but the sound card.
The sound card is Sound Blaster Live 24 bit and embeded in the motherboard Gigabyte G1975X.
But FC6 recognised it as Sound Blaster Audigy LS, and when I booted system, a sound card error popup, said the it can not open sound device for playback.
I updated the alsa driver to 1.0.14rc1, but the problem is same.

Can anybody help me on this?

No. I can not get sound via soundcard detection.

ok, that's not good.

I don't know if playing with your alsa settings can fix this, it may be due to the 64bit install, have you tried with a 32bit version of FC6?

The only other thing I can suggest is you get a cheap pci soundblaster card (they really are cheap <$10) and disable the onboard audio (it will give a small performance boost anyway)

I have tried the 32bit version before, it was the same.
And thanks for your suggestion.
But it is ok for me that the sound card doesn't work.
My working platform is Windows XP, to install FC6 is just for learing.

I have the same sound card(mine is PCI) and it works... But not in 5.1 surround sound. I feel like I have tried EVERYTHING to get my 5.1 working. Any help on this?

YAY!!! I FINALLY after weeks got my 5.1 working right! I followed these steps, I had to create the .asoundrc fine in my Home Directory and VIOLA, it worked! 5.1 never sounded soo good .

reboot. then try it with amarok as it has a built in settings for 5.1 surround.
it worked for me
