I have a laptop with FC5 on it but before I could activate sshd for it,
the display went bad (shows random pixels and the display is unreadable.
So I want to try to ssh or telnet into it by booting a live CD that's already
setup to have a user account of known name and password, and
sshd auto launched at boot.
Unfortunately I haven't' had much luck with either DSL or Puppy with
getting the ssh to run at boot without being able to see the display.
With DSL you can type in the "ssh" cheatcode but that doesn't help
if there's no user account of known password. The way they
do things is you boot it, then you can "sudo passwd dsl" to
set a particular password for the dsl user. The problem is of
course that does me no good because it's impossible to do that
if the display is busted. What I'd REALLY like is a live rescue CD
that's pre-cooked so all these daemons will load, use dhcp to
get an ip for eth0 and have a preset user account/password
so I can ssh from one of my other pc's on the network.
