cdrecord: Resource temporarily unavailable. Cannot get mmap for 4198400 Bytes...

hi,

running FC6 and i still get this error -- judging from the threads, this is still happening even though its been around since FC5.

as a solution you have 2 choices;

- the first is to add /usr/bin/cdrecord as a sudo-able command (man visudo). giving the binary setuid root is NOT enough
- get the cdrtools-2.01.01a23 source code and make install. since version 2.01.01a9 the dvd burning code has been integrated into the opensource cdrecord util itself (doesn't require extra key etc)

i was having the 'fun' with the FC6 cdrecord so i simply built and installed the 2.01.01a23 sources and burning disks is now problem free. i only use the command line so YMMV with the graphical front ends but i doubt it. i haven't tried burning DVDs yet so if anyone has any issues/success, please reply to this thread.

appologies, need to add that when i built/installed from the cdrtool src, the final /opt/schily/bin/cdrecord executable was setuid root

running this on custom 2.6.19.2 kernel on FC6
