Unhappy nvidia 6200 driver issue

i downloaded the driver from nivida's website into my root home folder...........when i type in the command in terminal that nvidia tell you to sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run it starts the installer but i get this message ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before
installing. For further details, please see the section
INSTALLING THE NVIDIA DRIVER in the README available on the Linux
driver download page at www.nvidia.com.


what the heck does thi smean and how do i get passed this to install the driver

ok so i did what you typed and it went to a text mode, but im a noob here what do i type then.............that command that was on the nvidia website?...............then how do i get out of text mode then when its done

You could also just use livna's kmods. It is a lot easier.

Firewing1(a CM on this site) has made the kernel modules. You have to use the livna repo. http://rpm.livna.org/
The modules HAVE to be updated every time you update the kernel.

yum install kmod-nvidia
