Keyboard hooking in X server

Hello everyone,
I'm about to develop a small utility to capture keyboard input in X server (system-wide). I'm new to Linux programming, is there any tutorial on how to write a hook into keyboard input on Linux?
Thanks in advance.
PS: It's not a malicious keylogger. It serves as a Input Method for Vietnamese.

Input methods don't use system-wide keyboard hooks. See: http://anakin.ncst.ernet.in/~aparna/...ted/c1685.html and http://www.jw-stumpel.nl/stestu.html#T6.4
Use the uim or scim input method frameworks included in Fedora.
