Connect HSDPA phone for Internet Connection

Hi all,

I have a motorola V6 Maxx HSDPA phone that can access the Internet. Is it possible I can connect a USB cable to a Fedora laptop, use it as a 'modem' and connect a VPN client through it so I can get my mail on the road?

Thanks
