detection of webcam and software updates on my acer laptop

hi everyone,
i have recently bought a laptop acer 4710z and have installed fc7 on it.
the integrated webcam in the laptop hasnt been detected by fedora. and moreover, the software updater gets hanged and has to be forced to quit.
i have a broadcom ethernet card and i share my internet connection from my windows xp desktop.
please help.

Hello try this here for your webcam , it should help a bit.

also try updating yum first and the kernel

thanks danger mouse,
my webcam can be seen in camstream, but camstream returns error that the device not found.
it seems to be a problem with v4lrc,
moreover my software updater shows new updates but hangs in resolving dependencies.
can you please guide me!

Hello vnb_fed, i dont know, the best i can suggest is run update from a terminal
su
yum update -y
then it should give a error message if it doesnt work hopefully, but bear in mind if you havent ever done any updates before it can take a long time to download (poss 600mb) and install.It might be worth just doing a kernel update first etc
yum update kernel

For the webcam issue, you might try here and see if your camera is supported....
