fedora 8 - no sound - sound card detection test works - help!

hey all,
i've recently just installed fedora 8 kde

So far I'm liking it, got most everything working how I like it except for one things.

Sound.

The soundcard detection test works, I can hear the music and everything, but I can't watch videos/listen to mp3's in xmmp or Kaffeine


sound on myspace/youtube doesn't work either on mozilla either

any suggestions? all help is appreciated.

got it working, just used some of the guides posted on here.

if anyone needs the answer, i just installed amarok/xine and it basically did it for me

did that fix your fire fox sound problem cause i have that problem

actually the real answer to my problem was dl'ing the win32 codecs which apperantly aren't distributed with linux distros due to legal issues so I just had to manually dl them

as for firefox, it just randomly started working after some flash reinstallations and messing around.

I solved the problem on that already. lookat the thread and read all, if you dont have the asound.conf, just create it. I tried the second solution in the post and all works fine after i restart X.
