Mplayer - quick time(no sound)
I noticed that I have no sound when playing quick time movies with mplayer.
But not all qt movies, just the latest qt movies. There must be some issue with new qt codec or format, I guess mplayer can display picture, but with no sound.
It looks like there is no sound support yet for new qt movies !?
For example if I watch trailers from www.apple.com/trailers.
I use the latest mplayer, compiled daily CVS snapshot.
Anyone know how to make my sound work?
Do I have to compile any aditional codecs?
Thanks

I have similar problem. I use the mplayer plugin for my browser. No sound when viewing Apple trailers (.mov-Quicktime). I too am looking for a solution. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Tux2furious, the link you porvided doesn't seem to work. It won't load.

I have exact issue but I install mplayer using yum. I removed it and reinstalled after having the codecs unpacked but still no success.

Hello, I'm getting no sound when veiwing apple trailers as well.
I'm quite the newbie, but I've gotten mplayer, mplayer-plugins, and the codecs.
I downloaded this:
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rele...050115.tar.bz2
and extracted to usr/lib/win32, but I'm still SOL.
Any tips?
Thanks,
josh

I'm having the same problem with the apple trailers.
When playing wma url's I'm getting sound but no picture.
I installed mplayer and all dependencies from livna.
I installed the codecs according to http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...ion_notes.html
Anyone else having similiar problems?

Woo Hoo! I think I got it.
Somewhere along the line I must have dropped the ball.
I found the codecs were not in /usr/lib/win32 but were actually in a codecs folder under that directory.
I copied the actual codecs from /usr/lib/win32/codecs to /usr/lib/win32
I restarted firefox and that did the trick. I both get audio at the apple trailers and get video at the other sites.
Again, my bad. I guessed I goofed somwhere along the line.
