[YANQ] some compiz effect not working

Hello all!

first post here, seminoob with linux

after installing compiz fusion, I noticed that something is not working properly: some effect cannot be activated (water effect, for example: if I press shift+9, I do see the water drops on the desktop, but there is no way to enable the "draw" feat... I cannot even select the option, since it is "gray faded".
Everything else seems to be working fine... what should I do?

Look in the HowTo Section for guidance. First, make sure you have proper video drivers installed, then go towards Compiz threads and have a look.

thanks for answering, I already looked at howto but can't sort out of the sand. Now I will take a look to the Compiz threads

Please post the

uname -a

output and what type of video card you have.

"uname -a" tell me this:

Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.23.1-42.fc8 #1 SMP Tue Oct 30 13:55:12 EDT 2007 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux

while my videocard is:

ASUS EAX550HM512/TD, based on ATI Radeon X550

mmh... doesn't know if it is related or not, but just after installing WINE and rebooting... suddenly all Compiz effects are working perfectly. HTH
