So I got an IP35 Pro mobo with onboard raid. Now I have the choice to turn on my onboard sata through bios. I also have the choice to select which mode to have it in, raid, ide or achi.
I have serial ata HDD's connected to this IP35 mobo.
Now here is the kicker, if I select raid mode and I install fedora 8, after boot from grub, it just hangs. No errors or nothing. If I do any other mode, achi or ide everything boots fine.
This stinks because I want my onboard raid with raid 1 mirrored!
When I say it hangs after the using grub it shows the last line with:
[Linux-initrd @ 0x37c2f000 xxxxx bytes]
It doesn't even get to the decompressing stage.
I think this might be a problem with the board or linux. Maybe I have to wait until fedora 9.
It is clear fedora 8 works fine with ide or achi mode enabled.
I have even installed it the opposite way (with ide enabled) and it works but once I turn on that raid mode, it just hangs.
HELP ME!!
