Fedora9: Toggle WiFi to Wired?

What is preferred way to toggle from WiFi to Wired in Fedora 9?

Noobie...Confused between "Network Manager", "Network Device Control", "ifcfg scripts"......

Should only 1 interface be "active" at a time? Wifi starts off active...when disabled the "server" lookup is lost on system connected to Linksys WRT54G with both Wifi and Wired Connection.

Do I just turn off the WiFi switch on the Laptop?

1) Turning off Laptop WiFi switch and reboot...."No Network Connection" in upper right panel.
2) Browser seems connected (wired) but goes to "Work OffLine".
3) Network Device Control is used to "activate" wired interface...Browser is manually switched back to "Work OnLine"...wired connection works!...but panel still shows "No Network Connection"?
