Unhappy Fedora core 2 no sound card detected

Hi all
I was looking for this in the forum before I posted this but I could not find a answer to my problem. I have a reltec ac97 onboard card. Durring install Fedora 2 did not detect any sound card. I have tried to use the sound card detection tool in fedora 2 however no luck. How can i get this working I am really new to linux I do have a linux book that came with the cd however it does not have any support for sound in it. I'm so stumped on this can anyone please help me figure this out. Fedora 2 is what we are working on in the class.

You might be interested to know we're running F8 and F9 and expecting F10 in a few weeks. F2 is EOL so there's not much help to be provided here. Try installing F9 and come back with the results.

The Problem is fedora core 2 came with my text book. The other problem is I have no blank dvd or cd to update to fedora 9 unless there is anouther way to update. Other then this I'm stuck The textbook follows fedora 2 but if there not much diffrence then I'll upgrade to it. But is there away to update to fedora 9 without having to burn a dvd.
