Hello all,
Fairly new to Linux, managed to build a 99% working webserver from a vanilla install.... but as always it's never that easy
I was adding some entries into the network settings so that I'd have eth0:0, eth0:1, etc. for extra IPs, and it took me a few times to get it right.
During one of these failed attempts, my server would start and load up fine until the login screen. I get the star sky background and a mouse pointer but no login window!
I found that when I pressed SHIFT+F1 (I think) I got the command line and could log in fine.
I changed the eth... files back to what they were originally, restarted, and still the same problem, but again everything was fine when logged into the command line mode. I also managed to get the network configuration working and listening to 5 IPs and I have a server that works fine with SSH, LAMP etc. but for some reason the window never appears.... any help?
Thanks,
Marcus
