Screen refresh problem? Aspire One

So: Fedora 10 gnome on an Acer Aspire One. Every now and then (I can't force the problem, and I have no idea what causes it) there's a section of screen that is slow to refresh. Like, 2 or 3 minutes to refresh. It's about 1" by 2", located in the center, lower quarter, of the screen.

Any ideas about what might be going on? Better yet, any ideas how to fix it?
