Compiz cube and workspaces issues

I have just started playing with compiz and I kinda like it. I now have two problems though

1. I turned off cube effect and now it won't turn back on (it was working before), I check the boxed, and enable it in desktop effects it dosn't do anything and ofter it unchecks the boxes when I close

2. when cube effects do work I can't drag windows into the workspace selector to move them. I want to be able to use the workspace switching in cube but still easily drag the windows (without having to drag them through all the switchs)

3. when cube was working it wasn't taking any setting for shortcuts to specific workspaces (e.g. ctrl + shift + 1 to workspace one), it would save them but the shortcuts wouldn't do anything afterwords
