Blank screen after changing screen resolution

Hi everyone
Last weekend I was changing screen resolution on my IMB thinkpad T42 laptop from 1024x864 to 1280x1024, ( I have also extra DELL "17 screen conected to the docking station), after I changed the resolution both screen became blank and when I reboot I only get blinking cursor in the upper left corner of the screen. Is there any methode to reset the resolution to what it was before ???
