It's rather simple, really. (In GNOME):
System->Administration(Or preferences), find SELinux Management. Click that. Change enforcing to disabled. Reboot.
Selinux is out of the way. Alternatively you could recompile a custom kernel w/o selinux support, but that's aside from the point at hand.
For firewall:
System->Administration->Firewall click the big "Disable" button then click apply. Reboot.
You're now defenceless
