Blender 3d not working correctly

Hello guys, I downloaded Blender a while ago and found that whenever I tried to run it, it wouldn't start. I decided to install the 384 updates to see if it would fix the problem. Well, it did. Blender now works but....it makes everything weird, I run it and after about 10 seconds the things on the screen start looking weird for example, the taskbars and menus at the top and bottom stop displaying their text. I also find that all the icons on the desktop are still there, but the text below them seems to disappear. Does anyone know what my problem may be? Help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Shane.

I'm sorry for seeming impatient, but doesn't anyone have an answer?

Have you installed blender from the fedora repos?

I had dissapearing buttons and other weird things when I didn't have a graphics driver installed.
So make sure you have the right graphics driver installed and Blender from the fedora repos.

Yes I installed it from the repos. Also, tell me how I find out the driver and card type? Sorry, I'm new to Linux, and I cant seem to remember the card type from when I had windows.
