Firefox suddenly crashing

Trying to open Firefox, and find that I cannot. It crashes. So, have opened Seamonkey, and am writing this from there.

F11 updated to the latest on an ThinkPad R51.

If I try my terminal, it opens provided I quickly open an empty tab before the home page loads. As soon as I try to connect to a page, or even preferences, Firefox crashes.

Code:
[@localhost ~]$ firefox
/usr/lib/firefox-3.5.3/run-mozilla.sh: line 131:  2477 Segmentation fault      "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
[@localhost ~]$ firefox
/usr/lib/firefox-3.5.3/run-mozilla.sh: line 131:  2506 Segmentation fault      "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
[@localhost ~]$ firefox
/usr/lib/firefox-3.5.3/run-mozilla.sh: line 131:  2533 Segmentation fault      "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
[@localhost ~]$

I am getting the same thing with Fedora 12 and Firefox 3.5.5. Did you ever find a fix. I have tried a new firefox profile and uninstall/reinstall firefox and flash-plugin

Code:
/usr/lib/firefox-3.5.5/run-mozilla.sh: line 131:  3468 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) "$prog" ${1+"$@"}

Sorry to hear that.

I've actually moved on to another distro that seems more stable for my hardware. Never did find a fix for that one.

I'm experiencing Firefox 3.5.5 freezing up (can't scroll) and then eventually crashing, identical to a bug about a "script" that was "running slowly" that was occurring for me intermittently a couple of months ago in F11 and then stopped happening, probably fixed by an update. I'm on a clean (new) install of F12 now. Will try to gather more info.

I've noticed that whenever one of the 'new style' notification windows pops up it kill firefox.

For instance I have foxproxy plugin installed and when it notifies me about proxy loads or failures firefox segfaults.

This also occurs when vaccum places does its job and notifies me.

I've loaded NO plug-ins. My problem is occurring while moving form Yahoo's main page to their email page and back. An information message tells me an Adobe "script" is running slow and may eventually cause problems, do I want to cancel it. I'm waiting for it to happen again so I can write more stuff down.

It just happened again. Info window opens and tells me my computer may become unresponsive if I don't cancel the Adobe script (that's running slowly). It happened when a new page was opened after clicking on a Yahoo email to read it. Ad at top of page then disappears.

Demz, Why do you ask that? Why would the crash reporting crash firefox?

just that abrt seems to be crashing other apps i think, you could try disabling it in system > Preferences > Services or System > Administration > Services

I don't think Firefox crashing, and slow or no loading is OS related. It was doing the same thing on my XP machine. Installed Firefox 3.013 and that seems to work.ok. I wish I knew how to downgrade Firefox on F12.
