Hello Martin Pail,

Fedora 11 no longer has the traditional three 32-bit kernels (i586, i686, i686 PAE). It only has the i586 and i686 PAE kernels. That fact has led to several incidents like yours recently. And it has been documented here to occur with other kmods besides kmod-nvidia. Anyway, what you can do is reboot into your F11 PAE kernel and remove the i586 F11 kernel and kmod-nvidia stuff. If necessary, remove all of the F11 kmod stuff and re-install kmod-nvidia-PAE. This thread is an example and has links to more victims...

If you need more assistance, then return here and describe what went wrong.

thanks very much,

sounds good, but why did fedora upgrade install the i586 kernel ?? I am confused.

Because I did install the PAE kernel manually after the upgrade because the system did not work
