which version of XFree86 I am using?
I have an ATI 9600SE graphic card. I am trying to install the Linux driver from ATI. I followed the instruction, run the check.sh (sh check.sh) to determine which XFree86 I am using and get the following messege.
================================================== ===================
ATI Technologies

Your possibly not running this script from the console
or maybe you simply dont have the console ownership.
Unable to determine XFree86 Version. Stopping now.
I logged in as root.
Please advise.
Thanks

Check the version of the rpm: Fedora has switched to the xorg fork of xfree, if that makes a difference.

What is your OS? Are you running Fedora Core 2?
Back in RedHat 9 days, this would have worked:
rpm -q XFree86
If you are running FC2, the command should have worked as previously posted.
You do have X-windows installed and running, right?
Explore the Core!
