Empathy
Hello you all!, just have a general, but deep question about Empathy.
After installing all possible backend needed to create accounts, I was able to create my yahoo account, but when I try video calling my friend how uses m$n on xp, I get the message "connecting....." but on my friend's pc It doesn't show that I'm calling him.
My question is more to clarify my expectation of Emapthy. Can I have video calls with contacts using
another IM software using my yahoo account?
Thanks
RAS

Has your friend been able to receive calls from other people? I'm just wondering if the issue is on his end, perhaps a firewall or something.

Yahoo video is not supported currently in Empathy.

For Yahoo! Video Chat, you still need to use GYachi. For MSN you need to use aMSN but Empathy does do Google Talk.
Make sure your webcam is working too. If you have Cheese installed then that is an easy way to tell. It's not definitive, but at least you'll know if the webcam works.

bpepple, your answer was perfect to decide the direction on how to approach the
problem. Most of my friends are windows users. I have created an account and successfully stablish
and audio call.
On the other hand dragonbite answer let me wondering.......
When I try a video call, my friend video preview window automatic goes to "Not Cam" mode,
and in my end I can see my self in the video preview, but as soon as he answer the call
my video is gone. I check his cam and is working fine.
Might be that Im missing a package, or maybe there is a bug somewhere, that I cant find.
I have try update-ting the emapthy it self, and the packages mention on the FAQ page from
my first post, but nothing.
