firefox not opening mplayer fc11

i used to be able to watch music videos from a local radio station website using firefox and mplayer with fc11. maybe the solution is to upgrade to fc12, since it seems to work fine on the pc with fc12, but maybe the problem is something easy to fix, and i can wait awhile before getting everything up on fc12.. -( also, with fc11, i can play the same videos using a newly installed version of google chrome. i am just trying to find out what causes this type of error and how i can fix it.
if i go to www.kzsn.com and select the "on demand" tab, then select a video, i should see mplayer open up and the video play - i don't get the black box and no video, no sound..
as stated above, this works fine using google chrome, or using another pc with fc12.
this website also has some videos that play via flashplayer. they also did not play in fc11 with firefox, but i was recently able to get them to work by downgrading to a previous version of shockwave (found that in another post). not sure if this has anything to do with the problem i am having, but thought i would mention it, just in case..
only other thing i can't seem to do with any release of fc (maybe linux in general) is watch movie trailers from the apple website (which used to work fine) - was wondering if anyone else can with fc11 or fc12? thanks..

still no joy..
i did the above, then reopened firefox, select www.kzsn.com and go into on demand, videos on demand, and try to play steve earle's guitar town.. (its a good one)..
it scrolls down and selects the song, but does nothing else. just have a gray screen where the black mplayer screen should appear and play the video. it works with google chrome, but not firefox.
i tried to go into the same video again, and this time i see a message about a plugin has been disabled that is needed. i did disable the newer version of the shockwave plugin, and that allowed flash videos (some on the kzsn website, and also youtube videos) to play.
do i need to remove the disabled plugins? if so, how?

attached is a screenshot of the video playing using google chrome.
i compared the aboutlugins info on chrome vs firefox. i don't know, but i am guessing this has something to do with the problem..
most of the plugin info is identical. here are the differences:
chrome has shockwave 10.0r42 and firefox has 10.0r32
firefox has NPAPI PluginsWrapper 1.3.0 - did not see this one in Chrome.
firefox shows info under Java Plugin 1.6.0-14-b08. chrome last line shows Java, but no detail.

i was not able to play youtube or any shockwave videos with firefox using the newer r42 plugin, but am able to using the r32 plugin.

maybe the problem has to do with a newer version of firefox? can you play the steve earle video using firefox?

i ran the testpage, and it played fine. i see the firefox logo and hear a little sound.
when i go into tools-addons-plugins, i see plugins that are enabled and disabled, but i don't see anyway to remove the disabled plugins (probably isn't going to make any difference anyway). i still wonder if anyone running fc11 with this kernel "Linux boss 2.6.30.10-105.fc11.i686.PAE #1 SMP Thu Dec 24 16:41:17 UTC 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux" and firefox 3.5.6 is able to play the videos i have been trying to ?
