Hi
My small net has two macs and two dual boot Win/Fedora(12) machines.
Today I tried to setup samba on one of the Fedora boxen ( bigbox)
It sorta works...Other machines can mount my shares and I can
mount other machines ( Macs) shares, but only because I know
their names.
On the bigbox machine with the fresh samba install both
"findsmb" and "smbtree" *only* display the info for bigbox.
On the other fedora machine (no smbd or nmbd) findsmb and smbtree show the shares
on the macs and *NOT* the shares on bigbox.
Both of the macs show the shares on the macs but *NOT* the shares on bigbox.
However I can mount the shares from bigbox on the macs because I know the names
of the shares. ( and conversely I can mount the shares on the mac machines 'coz I
know the names.
So...It appears that bigbox info is *not* visible to other machines and other machines
don't see bigbox info. ( But mounting shares work fine.)
Is there some configuration parameter in bigbox's samba config file that needs to
be set in order to make share names visible to other clients?
Why does the other fedora machine see the mac shares but not bigbox?
Firewalls are all off.. smbd and nmbd are running on bigbox...
