I'm in the process of switching to Linux... and among the drives I'm using is an older Panasonic SQ-TC512n 5 cd changer. It's still in very good shape, and I would like to continue using it.
Using it under Wxp has been a problem... I can, but sometimes it locks up XP because XP doesn't recognize that you can change CDs without opening the caddy (or at least, it doesn't on this computer). The only drivers I've found for the thing are DOS/W95 drivers, and as I remember, the W95 driver crashes under XP.
Is there a good driver under Linux for this thing? Maybe something that lets me switch disks automatically or something like that, or that recognizes that it is a changer?
I don't have the money to go out and buy new stuff, and I have good reason to want to have this changer operational (I have multiple CD's that I access regularly and it's a bother to be changing them out all the time- reference material CD's).
Any info on Linux usage of this device would be appreciated!
