Question Fedora 10 GNOME Desktop Effects

I am running a Virtual Machine with Live CD/DVD. Part of the assignment is to Enable Desktop Effects. However, each time I attempt this, I get just a blank white screen for a few seconds and then it reverts back to the original desktop. What could possibly be the reason I am not able to enable the GNOME Desktop Effects? I am a virgin user of Unix, and could really use some input.

Thanks

Re: Fedora 10 GNOME Desktop Effects

You don't have the required drivers installed for compiz fusion to work. Install them 7 you should have the effects enabled.

It would help, if you could specify your graphic card make & model.

Re: Fedora 10 GNOME Desktop Effects

This is the version that came with my textbook. I believe that my graphic card is Navida, not quite sure. I will have to check.

Since I am running from Live CD/DVD, how can I upgrade to Fedora 12?

Re: Fedora 10 GNOME Desktop Effects

Look at the Fedora Project Jump at the top of the page to get the newest versions of Fedora. However, you still should be able to get the necessary packages for F10 if you want to continue with that version. Also, check Leigh's compiz instructions in the Guides & Solutions Forum.
