Need to uninstall nvidia drivers (kmod-nvidia).

Hello,

I'm new to fedora 12. I've tried to install nvidia drivers using this commands:

yum install kmod-nvidia
yum install akmod-nvidia
yum install nvidia-xconfig

After rdblacklist=nouveau in grub it runs, but I am having several issues and therefore I would like to downgrade to nouveau or whatever I had running with basic fedora 12 installation.

My GPU is nvidia gtx 280:

[root@localhost ~]# /sbin/lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT200 [GeForce GTX 280] (rev a1)

My kernel is:
2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure if you just remove the

rdblacklist=nouveau

from your /etc/grub.conf it will just go back to the default. At worst, that in combination with

yum remove kmod-nvidia
yum remove akmod-nvidia
yum remove nvidia-xconfig

ought to do it. Keep in mind, however, that I'm a relative newbie at this too. 2.6.32.9-70 (as per normal kernel upgrades) wiped out my nvidia completely, so I'm just booting the previous version (2.6.32.9-67) for now.

There is more to installing the nvidia driver than what you did. Have a look at the nvidia thread in my signature for the full process.

try to move your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to other place (rename it)

mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bak

maybe that could help. Btw what was the problem?

If you just update your system, you should be working again at this point. They fixed something last night.
