you are running out of memory on your computer when you run k9copy

suggestions:

Add more RAM , if you can ,

Turn off other things that you are doing on the computer while making your DVD

If you are trying to do this all in one shot , you might want to try breaking up the steps:
get a copy of the dvd onto your hard drive first , then copy to another dvd after the first copy is finished

Unfortunately, not all systems are capable of the large memory and space requirements to make dvd copies

Re: k9copy assistant killed

Dear madhavdiwan,

I got this machine with 2GB RAM. When backuping dvds in general the memory occupied on this machine is under 400MB. When try to copy this dvd the memory used goes to 2GB RAM + 2 GB swap (when it hit 2 GB swap the process is killed).

Dear guys,

I have found another one with the same problem.

"
Trying to make a dvd9 fit on a dvd5. Mainly would like to strip all the menus so it plays nicely. The DVD in question is copy protected but plays just fine on my system with Movie Player or VLC.

But so far when dvd95 or k9copy tries to analyze the structure of the dvd, they just turn grey and hang. Then my computer locks shortly after. If I have system monitor open I can see what happens -- it's not a hard lock. Basically the memory just starts filling up, and then when it starts filling the swap space that slows everything down and makes it unresponsive. If I'm really patient I can get to a console and kill the process, which returns my system to normal.

Yes that is what i implied was happening when i said you were running out of memory

You COULD save yourself by adding more swap space ( by making an additional swap partition on a disk drive/ usb flash would be pretty good for temp swap in your case ) .. but it would take an awfully long time to make your dvd that way.

Re: k9copy assistant killed

I think the problem is on side of libdvdread/libdvdnav. I have added +20GB swap area and k9copy process filled up and then was killed.
