Hey guys.
I messed up.
So I updated the kernel without a corresponding nvidia driver. Compiz manager set to start automatically at start-up using gnome "startup programs" gui menu.
Result? Three to four seconds of "everything looks good" before compiz manager starts and changes everything to a white screen.
Fine, I think, I'll just try to redo it. I hit ctrl-alt-F1. for some reason, I do not get a prompt.
This is the only OS I have installed on this computer, so it skips over grub on bootup.
Is there any button press I can use during boot that will get me a prompt?
Basically, how do I get it to re--recognize/install the driver, or, barring that, how do i disable compiz from starting on bootup?
Nvidia drivers were installed following this method:

I've gone over these threads, but nothing has helped:

Yeah, I know, it was a dumb mistake. How can I fix this?
