Cool Gnote is persistant and annoying

There's a Gnote icon on the panel.
I removed the application using the add/remove software GUI (System-> Administration->Add/Remove Software)

When I click on the panel icon, the un-installed programme opens up

I removed the application using the terminal

When I click on the panel icon, the un-installed programme opens up

How can I get rid of it ?

# find Gnote (or gnote) doesn't find anything, but the programme still takes notes

How might I get rid of it ?

[root@Saywot saywot]# yum remove gnote
Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Remove Process
No Match for argument: gnote
Package(s) gnote available, but not installed.
No Packages marked for removal
and yet the panel shortcut still opens the programme and writes a new note

How bizarre !

Hello:
You need to run yum as root, yes

To be a purist

Try, as root

yum reinstall gnote

Once it's installed, as root run

updatedb

then

rpm -ql gnote

(this will tell you all the files installed)

then check your settings under /System/Preferences/Startup Applications

then

yum remove gnote

Once that is complete, run

updatedb

and if the problem persists, run

locate gnote

and compare it to your output of

rpm -ql gnote

and delete the offending files.
