Re: Gnome Shell + recordmydesktop
i think you'll find the 2.29 version is buggy. only think i could suggest is to download a F14 Nightly iso image an try the 2.31 version. install it on a different partition an try if you can reproduce that Bug

Re: Gnome Shell + recordmydesktop
It might depend on what graphic driver you are using. If your using the Open Source drivers, nouveau can cause the problems you're experiencing. I've found that the Intel drivers and the ATI Radeon drivers have less problems. In fact, when I use gnome shell in F13 on the lappy with Intel graphics it's hardly buggy at all. If your using Nvidia graphics, you might want to try install the Nvidia drivers using Leigh's how-to in the Guides and Solutions section of the forum. Gnome shell is still very experimental, if you encounter problems, the best thing to do is file a report in the bugzilla, so it can be fixed.

I'm using intel on this laptop.

The only bug report I found filed was for ubuntu:

I guess I'll file one for Fedora 13.
Thanks.

Re: Gnome Shell + recordmydesktop
Well, if you using Intel, then really nothing to do but wait till the newer version that's in Rawhide is released. Filing a bug gets the devs attention though.

Re: Gnome Shell + recordmydesktop
Note that you an also use ffmpeg to record your desktop. An example is in the ffmpeg man page.

Re: Gnome Shell + recordmydesktop
Indeed ffmpeg can be used to record - HD quality into mkv, m4v extensions. Here is an example:
ffmpeg -f alsa -ac 2 -i pulse -f x11grab -r 30 -s 1280×800 -i :0.0 -qscale 1 -acodec alac -vcodec libx264 -vpre lossless_ultrafast -threads 0 output.m4v
What i don't like about ffmpeg, is that i have to use the terminal to start/stop recording (ctrl+c to end a recording).
I guess this thread can be considered [SOLVED]:D!!!

Re: Gnome Shell + recordmydesktop
You can also record your screen with recordmydesktop from terminal . Just run recordmydesktop and it will start recording , to stop it just use ctrl + c ... it's working on Linux Mint , and Slackware with gnome3
