Latest Kernel//Nouveau Breaks Suspend...

On my HP i7 based laptop the latest kernel 2.6.33-147 and possibly Nouveau/X.org seems to
have broken suspend. ie

If the laptop is suspended then when woke, the screen is dead and networking does not work
and I cannot change to a different console.

If I boot the previous kernel this behaviour does not occur.

Any one else have this problem?

Jerry

Re: Latest Kernel//Nouveau Breaks Suspend...

I filled a bug against this problem and today I received a suggestion that I try an (experimental)
kernel from koji ( 2.6.34.6-46.rc1.fc13.i686.PAE )

This cleared the suspend/resume problem ( the screen would not power on after
resuming from suspend or hibernate).

Also Sound appeared to be much better in the Oracle Virtual Box 3.2.8 Win 7 VM. ie
it was now intelligible.

Desktop effects do not work with this kernel.

Re: Latest Kernel//Nouveau Breaks Suspend...

I am having the same issue with my HP i5 Pavilion laptop. If I boot to either
2.6.33.6-147.2.4.fc13.i686.PAE
or
2.6.33.8-149.fc13.i686.PAE
the suspend works just fine. However, if I boot to the most current on this laptop
2.6.34.6-47.fc.13.i686.PAE
suspend does not work. When I close the lid the fan immediately starts spinning very loudly and stays that way. Then when I open the lid the computer is locked up solid and the only thing I can do is hold the power button to force a shut down and restart. I am just using the older kernel as default for now. Hopefully it will get corrected in a future update.

Re: Latest Kernel//Nouveau Breaks Suspend...

I've got this issue too with my HP laptop. Attempting to suspend/closing the lid causes screen to blank and fan ramps up. I then cannot unsuspend the laptop and have to hard boot it.

It started with kernel 2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64 and still occurs with 2.6.34.6-54.fc13.x86_64. Hopefully there is or will be a fix very soon.

I'm having a similar problem with my EeePC 901. When I resume from suspend, it says network (Ethernet and Wireless) are unavailable.

Re: Latest Kernel//Nouveau Breaks Suspend...

My Aspire laptop (AMD CPU + ATI graphics can not suspend anymore with the 'first' 2.6.34 kernel. Haven't checked the latest though.

Thanks,
Joe.

Re: Latest Kernel//Nouveau Breaks Suspend...

the new 2.6.34.6-54.fc13.i686.PAE update that I just installed seems to have corrected the problem on my end. Suspend/resume are once again working normally for me.
