Unable to delete files from cowon s9

I recently bought a cowon S9 mp3 player because of its capabilities of playing ogg music files. I decided I wanted to remove some music files to replace with others bur after supposedly deleting them I found that there was 10gb still in use. After opening the folder for the cowon s9 and viewing the hidden files I found a "Trash 500" folder with the songs I thought I had deleted. The problem now is I can't delete this folder, even if I open the folder as root, it doesn't allow me to delete the unwanted files.
    Any ideas?
I'd rather not have a PC than go back to Windows :D

    1) you can try to empty your Trash, or,
    2) you can open a terminal, then cd to the drive (usually under /media) and then use the rm command to remove the .Trash folder manually

What if you unmount and re-mount the folder as root? Can you then delete the files? If not, change the file attributes of the unwanted files while mounted as root and then delete?

Re: Unable to delete files from cowon s9

It seems at the moment even as root, I am unable to change attributes to allow me to delete the folders
The error message says"Sorry, could not change the permissions of "
Trash-500: Error setting permissions: Read-only file system.
Also I noticed there was a
    /usr/libexec/gvs-gdu-volume-monitor
    problem, if that means anything.

You might look into the chattr command. Be VERY careful though. A mistake with that can be serious.

Re: Unable to delete files from cowon s9

Rather than delete the folder, can you not delete the files inside?
If its read only just chmod 700 .Trash 500 ought to do it.

    http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/linux-password-trick.html

gives an explanation of the chattr command. However, if kurtdriver's suggestion works, use that.

As I said on my previous post, the trash folder and contents seem to have been deleted but there is still the lost GB ??

Trash-500: Error setting permissions: Read-only file system.
It is possible that the filesystem is mounted read-only - in which case nothing will
delete files on it without having to bypass the filesystem - such as dismounting
    it and reformatting.

If there are any contents of the trash directory, then they have not been deleted.

I attempted what turned out to be a successful reformat, after saving the folders then re adding them after, so thanks for all the help.
