I have an Epson perfection 3490 scanner. Simple Scan gives "unable to connect" and calls it an EpsonEpson scanner. Skanlite gives "opening selected scanner failed". Xsane gives "failed to open device 'snapscan:libusb:001:004': Invalid argument". "scanimage" on the command line gives "no SANE devices found. I'm using Fedora13 from a LinuxFormat mag dvd. Pointers would be appreciated. None of the posts from a web search have been any help because the crucial directories mentioned such as /usr/etc/sane.d and/usr/local/etc/sane.d don't exist.
Thank you pkands. I've downloaded the rpms but installer fails because it needs vesion 2 of the C++ libraries and Fedora is at version 4+. seems a bit dodgy to add older libraries. Did you have this problem?
No. I had no problems and don't recall this issue but my scanner is the perfection 3170.
If you haven't already tried, there is a forum at the Avasys drivers site. Maybe a compat library is needed?
