Can't install fedora 6 from the dvd ... it hangs with a black "X" in the center of the monitor screen. Monitor is LG 1732TG; Graphics card is Geo Force FX 5700 LE ver.4.36.20.30.55
Please help
I've already tried changing screen resolutions but to no avail... it may be the monitor

Fedora need an official respin cd set or dvd set
I had some file corruption preventing a boot. I had to rebuild my fedora system. Because version 7 is not official, I took my FC6 DVD, chose most of the default options, and did the dvd install.
Upon rebooting, the system told me I had 300 updates, and would I want to do them NOW. I agreed.
Using SYSTEM-->Administration-->System Tools, I set the monitor up to watch progress.
For approximately 2.1 GIGS of downloads, there was 1.2 gigs of uploads.
Definitely, there is something wrong here. The directory tree, or whatever is required for determining if updates are required. or some other poor design is causing hours of extra traffic just to do an update.
I do hope this inefficiency will be addressed with FC7

Thanks to you all for your suggestions. It turns out that I had a loose connection on one of the data cables from a SATA HDD and once I remedied that I was able to install FC6.
Thanks again!

I would wait for 7 - Fedora Core 5 is about to hit EOL, Fedora Core 6 will soon enough too (a few months). Fedora 7 is well worth the wait - They are merging Core and Extras and there's also new things like a LiveCD which also acts as a type of install media (you can put the Live CD onto your hard disk) and KDE spins too!

My system locks up with FC6 and XEN. I have reported the problem on bugzilla for Fedora. My belief is that a change in either X-windows or the Kernel is causing the lockup (More likely X windows).
However, if you install FC6 and do not do updates, you will not miss anything. And it should work just fine. Otherwise, do all updates except for kernel and xorg.

The question should probably be "Can I dual boot XP and Fedora, and if so, how to go about it?"
XP wants to write to the master boot record, a reserved area on the hard disk. Fedora's installer can preserve the xp partition and install as a second operating system. XP will not preserve the Linux partition.

I know I can dual boot XP and Fedora already, My actual question is how can I install Fedora on a second partition so I can dual boot my already preserved XP partition?
