Issues with 2.6.38-0.rc6.git4.1.fc15.x86_64

Downloaded the latest F15 test ISO (may no longer be the latest though). After installation, most things were ok. I attended an IRC meeting with xchat running on it ... cool. Then, I decided to update (was hoping to catch the latest gnome-shell with the vertical workspace pane).

Oh no ....

I can't get past the GDM. The GDM dialog keeps flashing along with the warning sound notification (looks like a pseudo crash ... where the buttons actually work if one persists but the blinking and accompanying sound is really disheartening and annoying.)

Has this been fixed? Will another yum update fix this? If so, how do I connect to a wireless internet network via networkmanager at level 3. Looks like I need to run that update strictly on a terminal environment. Reverting back to the ISO boot image/kernel (2.6.38-0.rc5.git1.1.fc15.x86_64) does not correct this issue.

Great. I ran a reinstallation of the Alpha and, like you noted, the update is pointing to 2.6.38-0.rc6.git6.1.fc15. So it is bound to happen again. Strangely, yum in F15 alpha is missing 'localinstall' command and attempts to install accountservice-0.6.4-3 fail

maybe i'd either download the latest Night compose or wait for the Alpha which will be released nextweek on the 8th. or have a look in updates-testing repo to see if the rc7 kernel is in there, dunno if that repo is still enabled by default at the moment

Updates-testing is enabled and working. No rc7 there. Just made another observation... The laptop's battery indicator signals a depleted battery while f15 still has it at about 45%. Another loose end and one that is potentially expensive.

thanks Vallimar& Detox, built a local repo off those packages and ran an update from a fresh installation (with the local repo enabled). I am now responding from kernel rc7 and nothing serious yet. So ... I'll continue testing until I hit something. Great user-experience in general ... feeling like adjusting fonts already.
