Gimp 2.7.3

Hi guys! Fedora was my first attempt at using linux, but eventually I moved to Ubuntu because it is easier to install software(because they have easier to find repositories).

Anyways, my computer skills, knowledge of linux, and of course the want of gnome3 have led me back your way. It will be a big change, but I am happy to be here. My question, does anyone know of a repository that has gimp 2.7.3 in it to make it easier to install? I have yet to actually be able to find one with the latest gimp beta.

Thanks,
HP

Re: Gimp 2.7.3

If you don't mind a minor version then here's one for Fedora 15:
Gimp 2.7.2:
i686:

x86_64:

--------- The latest development snapshot according to gimp.org is 2.7.2

Re: Gimp 2.7.3

Cool. So far my experience with the latest fedora has been awesome. I wanted to capitalize the word awesome. Extremely fast and stable. I haven't ever used an operating system that ran like this.

I do need a bit of help though. I use the opera web browser, but need flash player. Anyone know how to install it easily for opera? The website says the installer is for firefox and a couple of others, but not opera. Will the installer work? I am on 64 bit.

Re: Gimp 2.7.3

Greetings. You can install Flash using this guide.
gimp 2.7.3 is currently on git. I will package it soon should the snapshot not be broken.

Re: Gimp 2.7.3

Another convert from Ubuntu. Are there any packages for the gimp-plugin-registry?

I downloaded the one from Ubuntu here. GIMP doesn't seem to be able to recognize the plug-ins, as I see the makefiles are built for debian. It looks like it needs to be compiled directly from source using gimptool-2.0, which is installed as:

Code:
yum install gimp-devel-tools

I can see that newer versions of babl and gegl are now packaged for Fedora 14, so Gimp 2.7.2 is also available for Fedora 14. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug.

When I try to update gimp (x86_64), yum pulls the fc15 packages although fc14 packages are present in the repository. And it fails on other dependencies, of course.

If I try to update only babl, the fc14 package gets pulled correctly. If I try to update only gegl, it pulls the fc15 package (and a new dependency, suitesparse).

Can't say what exactly is the problem with the repository or the package dependencies, but something somewhere causes Fedora 15 packages to be pulled on a Fedora 14 system...

Re: Gimp 2.7.3

Took me a while to get back to GIMP but I finally did last night. So I thought I'd post a follow up here.

For us Fedora 14 users, GIMP 2.7.2 or higher is a no go. The requirements have changed and GIMP (among others) now needs:

babl 0.1.4
gegl 0.1.6
glib2 >= 2.28.1
gtk2 >= 2.24.3
gdk-pixbuf2 >= 2.22.1

While babl and gegl are easy (SRPMS with newer versions compile with just minor tweaks), the other three are quite somehing else. While it might be doable, I have no wish of making changes that deep into the system.

So I guess it's either GIMP 2.6.x or 2.7.1 for Fedora 14. Now Fedora 15 comes to mind... and I wish it wouldn't.
