conky xfce desktop icons
so, having a little trouble getting all 3 working at the same time,
conky draws the root background for sudo transparency, not the desktop image, so solve by using real transparency, but this means any desktop icon blinks or just vanishes, what to do,
looked around for a while. but no further along, anyone else had this problem, anyone else solved this problem?
cheers

Re: conky xfce desktop icons
yea, i can get icons to work fine, if,
conky uses sudo transparency, which means it shows the splash screen from login 'underneath' it instead of the desktop background.
or conky works fine and desktop icons don't,
systems a fresh install as of today, using xfce, compiz, emerald.
cheers for any help

Re: conky xfce desktop icons
Slightly old thread, but since I've just resolved this on my Xfce F16 desktop, I thought I'd post it for anyone else to stumble across
I've found I only get correct function with these three settings for my conky window layout:
own_window_argb_visual yes
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_type normal
With anything else, I get the 'splash' under my transparency instead of my own desktop (see this), or I'll get the right transparency but clicking on the actual desktop raises it above conky, and only resetting conky brings it back.
Problem solved for D4 and anyone else, I hope!

Re: conky xfce desktop icons
This combination of settings works for me in F16/XFCE. I was also having the conky transparent bg showing the log-in splash image and not the desktop bg image until I added the own_window_argb_visuual bit.
Code:
own_window yes
own_window_class Conky
own_window_hints undecorated,below,above,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
own_window_type desktop
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_argb_visual yes
Also, you need to turn on xfwm4 compositing (real transparency) in the window manager tweaks app.
