Empathy can't connect
Hello,
I recently began experiencing a problem with Empathy where Facebook Chat, Gmail Chat, and Jabber became disconnected with the error message "No Reason Specified". They consistently refuse to connect even though I've tried changing their settings and, in the case of Jabber, removing account and replacing it with another with no success. Google searches likewise don't seem to provide too much information...my system is fully updated and I've even tried reinstalling Empathy, which also did not fix the problem. Does anyone know what is the cause of this error or a potential solution? At the moment, I've replaced Empathy with Pidgin, but Empathy's integration with Gnome Shell makes Pidgin an undesirable long-term replacement.
My machine is an HP-G71-340US Notebook running Fedora 15.

Re: Empathy can't connect
Note: my Empathy version is 3.02. I noticed that all of the accounts which cannot connect are XMPP accounts...could this be an across-the-board bug in Empathy with XMPP accounts?

Re: Empathy can't connect
Does anyone know if it'd be possible to fully integrate Pidgin with Gnome 3 the way that Empathy currently is? I've installed the integration plugin but all it gives me are notifications, not the chat field.

No, it doesn't, it's completely fine as a replacement except for the poor integration with Gnome 3.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did after opening Empathy again, and found some, but all of them seemed to be about some extensions of mine which need tweaking (my Gnome version number is different). This problem started before I used or had anything but a vanilla install, though.

Gnome version number is different

The extensions version number is located in 'metadata.json', try to change them to matching your gnome-shell version or a 'shorter' form, e.g. '3.0'.

Yeah, but it was working fine for a while. Why would it suddenly die?

Re: Empathy can't connect
Now I have a second problem: Pidgin is randomly shutting down after being left alone for extended periods, making my chat client woes much worse. Does anybody know a solution to at least one of these problems?

dunno. only thing i could think of is using the Default Plugins in Pidgin and turning off the others you may have enabled and see if you can reproduce the problem

Re: Empathy can't connect with Facebook account
Hi,
I'm using Empathy 3.2.2 in fedora 16. There is a problem that it's not connecting with Facebook account. Its working perfect with gtalk account .
Its good with pidgin, but integration of gnome and Empathy are good so its better staying with Empathy.
Please help me .

Re: Empathy can't connect
Actually every thing fine with pidgin, there is no difficulty adding FB account , except one thing that it crash often.
As far as to add FB account is concerned i have just add a new FB account in the Empathy but it give Network Error .
