dont know, im not 1 of the developers. but you can install it from koji. . just do what DBelton has showed you , but make sure you get the right ones for your release and Arch

for F15 how to get FF7 now http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpo...9&postcount=10
if you have the gjs package installed you will also need that to, but you could remove that package before updating to FF7

Re: Firefox 7 released...
You may have that backwards, detox.. I had the gjs package already installed here, and had no issues with installing FF7. I'm thinking that if you don't already have it installed, it needs it as a dependency.
Not sure about it, though.
And I did go back and fix the extra space I had in my post with yum install command and the links. so it should work just fine now. Somehow it got an extra space in between the 2 package URLs and it wasn't installing the second one (firefox 7), which gave errors installing xulrunner 7.

That's my impression too. It seems like these are minor updates that could have been FF4.n instead of FF7
I guess FF just trying to keep up appearances, just the same as Chrome

Re: Firefox 7 released...
I think belton's link worked perfectly for everyone but for me after some inital hiccups, i did update it too FF7 thru koji.
But cant imagine why it wouldnt be available in yum repos already after 2 days of release?

Re: Firefox 7 released...
actually, there was a problem with the link I had. When I copied/pasted it into the forum, it o\put an extra space between the 2 package URLs and did cause problems. I went back and changed it when I saw what happened in your post above. It should work fine now.

The usual 'excuse' is it needs to be tested before general release
The above link worked fine for me too....

Re: Firefox 7 released...
As an alternative route, I'm using the Firefox 7 package from Remi's repository ( http://remi-mirror.dedipower.com/).

Re: Firefox 7 released...
I noticed that FF7 has indeed been pushed into updates-testing (at least on F16 and probably F15 as well)

Re: Firefox 7 released...
There are issues with some extensions for Firefox 7. That's why Mozilla recommends not to update to the new version yet.
There should be a corrected version of Firefox 7 soon.

Re: Firefox 7 released...
That bug really doesn't affect many people, only the boneheaded ones that update firefox while they have add-ons waiting to be installed or updated.
Quote:
Specifically, the bug occurs if a user accepts a Firefox update while they have add-on updates or new add-ons waiting to be installed. Any staged add-ons are hidden when upgrading to Firefox 7, and making any changes to your add-ons (such as installing, removing, or enabling/disabling) will fix the problem. The bug is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=680802 and is already fixed in Firefox 7.0.1, which we plan to release as soon as possible.
|
Interesting thing, though..
The say it will be fixed in Firefox 7.0.1
But, the FF7 release in Fedora is 7.0.1
Code:
Installed Packages
Name : firefox
Arch : i686
Version : 7.0
Release : 1.fc16
Size : 21 M
Repo : installed
From repo : updates-testing
Summary : Mozilla Firefox Web browser
URL : http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/
License : MPLv1.1 or GPLv2+ or LGPLv2+
Description : Mozilla Firefox is an open-source web browser, designed for
: standards compliance, performance and portability.
