External Monitor Incorrect Max Resolution

I have Fedora 15 with both KDE and Gnome-Shell. At work if I log into KDE, I can set the resolution on my external monitor correctly to 1680 x 1050. If I log into Gnome 3, the highest I can set the monitor is 1280x1024. The monitor is detected as the correct brand in Gnome 3, but evidently it is an incorrect model.

How can I fix the setting in Gnome? I could not find an xorg.conf anywhere and I didn't see anything that looked correct in /etc/gdm. I am thinking it is a Gnome issue, rather than an X server issue since the monitor is detected correctly in KDE.

I fixed it. In

~/.config/monitors.xml. The laptop display and the 2 external displays are defined. II edited that file and changed the max resolution to the correct setting.

Thank you for the tip! I was wondering why my left and right screens wouldn't switch, even with an xorg.conf that practically dictated their positions, and I couldn't find where the settings were. Now all I need is to fudge gdm login to follow this...
