KNotify crashes in Segmentation Fault

When I log in to KDE, after about 30 seconds I get a pop up (KNotify-KDE crash handler) which tells that KNotify (process knotify4) has caused a Segmentation fault (11). I have had this problem for several days.

I have updated my system to latest packages. Now I have kdebase-runtime-4.7.3-10.fc16.i686 installed.

The stack trace shows references to _dl_relocate_object, xine and phonon.

I have upgraded from Fedora 15 to Fedora 16 recently.

Does anybody else have the same problem? Is a bug filed already into any tracking system?

As I wrote earlier, I have upgraded from Fedora 15. For Phonon, I have these packages:

Code:
$ rpm -qa | grep -i phonon
phonon-backend-xine-4.4.4-3.fc15.i686
phonon-4.5.0-3.fc16.i686
Is this OK???

Re: KNotify crashes in Segmentation Fault

Same problem (mine goes a bit deeper though). You can disable it by settungs->system settings-> Application and System Notifications->player settings and select No audio output.

Haven't heard of a 'fix' yet.

Re: KNotify crashes in Segmentation Fault

Here is the fix:

Code:
# yum install phonon-backend-gstreamer
# yum erase phonon-backend-xine-4.4.4-3.fc15.i686
After some googling I found out that phonon-backend-xine is deprecated and is no longer supported in Fedora 16. But it was in my system because I upgraded from Fedora 15!

Re: KNotify crashes in Segmentation Fault

Mine already has phonon-backend-gstreamer installed and no phonon-backend-xine-4.4.4-3.fc15.i686 found to erase. Mine was a 'new' install (format disk and go).

I do not get a crash any more when I start KDE. I can hear a tune when I start.
