Question How to make apm command work for Fujitsu S2020 (AMD athlon XP-M)

Hi...
I get the problem with apm command to suspend my Fujitsu S2020 notebook.
And I also try to run via command line by
#apm -s
No APM support in kernel

It's show NO APM support for this kernel.
I use
Fedora core 2
#uname -a
Linux kompressor.thailand.sun.com 2.6.5-1.358 #1 Sat May 8 09:04:50 EDT 2004 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux

Please help me to solve this.l
Thank you
D.Wut

I apologize in advance for my lack of experience with APM on laptops..

However, it sounds like your kernel is either not configured for APM (means you will have to build a custom kernel or install a kernel that has APM enabled)

OR

That you do not have the apm module configure properly.....

Of the two choices, if you are reasonably confident in your computer skills, building a custom kernel is really not that difficult.

If you decide you are willing to try, then I suggest "googling" how to build a custom Linux kernel, and if you run into problems or have questions, start a new thread on this board....

Dear...James
I think, I don't want to compile kernel. I think it should support as by default. Anyone have some idea?

I noticed your question concerning apm while searching the internet for something else, but I can help, I think.

Are booting with apci=off ?

If so apm will be loaded. If not, acpi is used.

FYI: check /etc/grub.conf

example :

title Fedora Core (2.6.9-1.681_FC3)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-1.681_FC3 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 acpi=off rhgb quiet

It makes no difference FC2 or FC3.

HTH,
