screen resolution in netbook

Hi all.

I have installed fedora16 gnome3 kernel 3.1.4 on my Asus eeePC x101H. Everything was work fine except the resolution selection.
What I mean is when I opened some dialog box for setting, some of it oversize and not fit my 10" screen. I cannot reach the button below the box. (like OK or CANCEL button).

I couldnt find any setting to increase the resolution. The default resolution is the highest that I have in my netbook.

Any suggestion to solve this?

Re: screen resolution in netbook

I have tried that. And it works... thanks.
But. I really hope there is other solution that can fix it automatically instead of holding that Alt key.

Thanks.

In most cases this is a application issue, you should report a bug.

Re: screen resolution in netbook

Here is some of the Application where the problem exist:

1. When I right click the mouse, some times I cant reach the menu at the top or at the below. (could it be solved if I change system font?)

2. Universal Access (in system setting)
3. Network (in system setting)
4. Disk Utility

Re: screen resolution in netbook

Such problems sometimes are not bugs in the proper sense of the word but rather a reflection of the fact that many such applications were developed before netbooks appeared with their diminutive screens. Still, of course, one should alert the maintainers of such programs about their incompatibility with netbook screen resolutions.

Assuming that you have installed gnome-tweak-tool (or just do yum install gnome-tweak-tool being root)
do the following
1: go to advance settings in applications.
2: in this go to fonts.
3: reduce from 1.0 to say 0.7 or 0.6

this is not a proper solution again but will help you selecting the below menus without draging.

problem here is the text goes really small.

hope this would help you.

please comment.

LOL, I just tried that and what a nice solution. All these years and I didnt know about that. I got an MSI Wind 100 when it first shipped. XChat settings dialog did that to me on that. I had to get on my desktop, open it up and then see which button was which, then select the last field in the dialog and tab once for cancel and twice for OK. When I got a dialog I was unfamiliar with, I'd open up up the Displays control and rotate the screen 90 degrees, do what I had to do, then rotate it back and tab to the Apply Button.

Thanks for that tip, just made my netbook a better mobile option
